It could end up being the Thursday night Pillow Fight of the Week when Cleveland heads to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder. OKC is riding a four-game losing streak and Cleveland lost five straight before somehow beating San Antonio on Monday night.
Neither team is all that prolific when it comes to scoring. The Cavs are second in the East in points in the paint per game at 52.8, but overall they are dead last in the league in scoring (103.1 ppg).
The Thunder aren’t much better averaging 105.7 points per game. That ranks them 27th in the league. More recently, OKC is averaging fewer points than their season average. They have been playing without three of their top five scorers – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (23.7 ppg), Luguentz Dort (12.6 ppg), and Darius Bazley (11.9 ppg). Over their past ten games, OKC is scoring 104.4 points per game.
Cleveland is in the same boat over the last ten games. The Cavs shot 44.3 percent from the field in their last ten and scored just 101.3 points per game. Minus the 125 points they scored on Monday against San Antonio, Cleveland’s previous five point totals were 101, 94, 75, 98, and 86.
It’s no surprise that in Cleveland’s last seven games the total has gone Under in five. Oklahoma City has actually seen the Over hit in four of their last six, but that may have had more to do with their opponents – Phoenix, for example.
In the last five Cavs-Thunder matchups, the total has gone Under. Breaking it down even further, the Under has cashed in seven of the last ten Cavs-Thunder games played in Oklahoma City.
Missing three top scorers and Cleveland’s pace – 24th in the league – are going to send tonight’s total Under.
