Coach Rick likes the total in this one tonight. Nick Lodolo has been strong in his two starts for the Reds this season. He’s 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA and he’s recorded 16 strikeouts. One plus for Lodolo tonight is that he will not have to face Phillies slugger Bryce Harper. He is still on the paternity list and is not expected back until later this week.
Spencer Turnbull with pitch for the Phillies. He has been surprisingly good so far this season. Turnbull is also 2-0 and he’s got a 1.23 ERA. The Phillies have won all four of his starts and three of those starts ended up going Under the total.
Both of Lodolo’s starts have gone Under the total as well. In four career starts against the Phillies, Lodolo is 1-0 with a 2.22 ERA. I like these two pitchers to battle it out early and let the bullpens do the rest. Back the Under at 9 and get it before it drops.

Houston will start rookie Spencer Arrighetti and that spells trouble for the Astros. Arrighetti is 0-2 so far this season and has an astronomical ERA of 11.57. In his two starts, Arrighetti has allowed 9 earned runs in 7 innings of work. That’s not good.
It’s really not good since Arrighetti and the Astros are going up against the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs hit a collective .245 and they are sixth in the majors in runs per game, averaging 5.41. The Cubs have scored five or more runs in five of their last seven games.
The Cubs will start Jameson Taillon against Houston. Taillon is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA after his first start of the season last week. Taillon and the Cubs beat Miami 8-3. Chicago has won seven of its last 10 games. The Cubs are 11-3 SU in their last 14 home games. They’ve got the better pitcher and the better hitters right now.
