ARIZONA @ SEATTLE (SEA -136, 7)

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Yes, we’re going back to the well, because the well is overflowing. Game 1 of this series was about Zac Gallen. Yesterday, it was all about George Kirby. Today, it’s Seattle P Logan Gilbert. Like Kirby, Gilbert has been pitching extremely well.
For the season, Gilbert is 2-0 with a 1.87 ERA. In his last three starts, Gilbert has allowed just two earned runs and 10 hits over 21 innings of work. That’s an ERA of just 0.86 and Gilbert has struck out 20 batters in those 21 innings. Seattle is 4-1 in Gilbert’s five starts this season. Seattle pitchers have allowed only two runs in this series so far. Over their last 11 games, the Mariners have only allowed 19 runs.
Brandon Pfaadt will start for Arizona. He’s 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA so far this season. He hasn’t been all that bad in his last two starts. Pfaadt allowed 2 ER in starts against St. Louis and the Chicago Cubs. He pitched at least 5 innings in each. The big problem for Pfaadt is that the DBacks have lost his last four straight starts. The Mariners have now won 31 of the last 56 First Fives on the moneyline. Seattle F5 ML again.
PIRATES @ GIANTS (SF -112, 7.5)

Jared Jones. That’s all you really need to know. Jones is 2-2 so far this season. His ERA is 2.79. He’s got great command and only has four walks this season. In his last two starts, he’s pitched a total of 11 innings and allowed just one earned run. He struck out 14.
The Giants go with Keaton Winn, who is a decent pitcher, but he’s not Jones. Winn is 2-3 with a 3.54 ERA. He’s also only given up 2 ER in his last two starts, but he throws a splitter 43 percent of the time. He relies too much on the pitch and when guys hit it, they hit it hard. He ranks in the fourth percentile in average exit velocity and the 15th percentile in hard hit rate.
The Pirates are average on offense - 4.04 runs per game, 18th in MLB - but early in the season, they were smacking the ball around. The Coach likes Jones to keep the Giants at bay and give the Pirates pitcher another F5 win.
