TIMBERWOLVES VS. SUNS 4/28/24
For the first time in 20 years, the Minnesota Timberwolves are one win away from winning a playoff series. The Timberwolves, who have dominated the first three games of their Western Conference first-round series by an average of 18 points per game, will try to complete a four-game sweep of the host Phoenix Suns tonight.
The TWolves came into the playoffs seeded No. 3. Now, Minnesota is up 3-0 in a postseason series for the first time in franchise history. In NBA history, a team leading 3-0 has never lost a series. On the other side of things, the sixth-seeded Suns are in a huge hole following a 126-109 home loss in Game 3.
With Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal as their core players, the Suns were considered a serious contender for the NBA championship. Instead, they are in danger of missing out on a single postseason victory this year. The Suns have never taken a lead in any of the three games so far in this series.
Minnesota has been led by Edwards, who finished Game 3 with 36 points and nine rebounds. He had 18 of those points in the fourth quarter alone. Edwards has also tied the franchise record set by Kevin Garnett with seven 30-point performances in the postseason.
The Timberwolves dominated the interior and had a 50-28 rebounding advantage. Rudy Gobert, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, frequently forces the Suns to settle for outside shots rather than driving to the basket. He is the ultimate rim protector.
In Game 3, Gobert recorded 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Karl-Anthony Towns, the TWolves other twin tower, finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Talk leading up to the series about Phoenix being the superior team has quickly fizzled out.
The Suns need to put on a strong showing to at least advance to Game 5 in Minneapolis. Suns guard Grayson Allen (ankle) missed Game 3. He is listed as questionable for tonight’s game.
Minnesota has won four of its last five games, but they are still just 5-13 SU in the last 18 games against the Suns. The TWolves have covered in all three games in this series. That makes them 3-9 ATS in the last 12 games against Phoenix.

Edwards is coming off a 36-9-5 performance in Game 3 and with the opportunity to send Phoenix packing tonight, Minnesota’s stud will come through. He’s averaging 42.0 PRA per game in this series. His PRA season average was just a shade below 37. Edwards has had multiple big games in a row. He had a stretch in March with four 30-point games in a row and went Over this prop as well. Edwards has the ability to take over a game at any time and Phoenix really hasn’t had an answer.
