BUCKS VS. PELICANS 3/28/24
The Milwaukee Bucks and the New Orleans Pelicans don't have much time to worry about a heartbreaking loss.
The Pelicans lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 119–112 at home on Tuesday after rallying from a 20–point deficit in the third quarter to take a five-point lead in the fourth. However, the team fell apart in the final minutes. That same night, despite LeBron James's absence, the Bucks blew a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter and fell to the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 128-124 in double overtime.
When the Pelicans and Bucks play in New Orleans tonight, both teams will be hoping to get back on track. New Orleans is in the midst of a six-game homestand in which it will play some of the best teams in the NBA. After the Bucks tonight, New Orleans will take on Boston on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Zion Williamson led the Pelicans (44-28) with 29 points and 10 assists, but after New Orleans took a 112-107 lead with 3:11 left, he and his teammates were unable to score a point. The Pelicans committed a turnover and finished the game 0-for-5 from the field.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 29 points, a season-high 21 rebounds, and 11 assists in the Bucks loss to the Lakers. With 8:25 remaining in the fourth quarter, Damian Lillard, who finished with 27 points, made a jumper that put Milwaukee (46-26) ahead 94-75. Los Angeles then closed out regulation with a 26-7 run to force overtime.
Due to an odd scheduling arrangement, the Pelicans are playing the Bucks for the second time this season in between their games against the Thunder and the Celtics. The first three games didn’t go so well for New Orleans. On January 26, New Orleans suffered a 107-83 loss at home against Oklahoma City. The following night, host Milwaukee beat them 141-117, and two nights after that, New Orleans lost 118-112 at Boston.
In the final game played under interim coach Joe Prunty, the Bucks led New Orleans by as many as 34 points. Doc Rivers then took Adrian Griffin's place as the team's permanent replacement.
While Milwaukee is 29-8 at home this season, they are a rather mediocre 17-18 on the road. They are 15-20 ATS in those 35 road games. Milwaukee is, however, 11-5 SU and ATS in its last 16 games and the Bucks are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last six games against New Orleans. The Pelicans are 9-3 SU in their last 12 games. New Orleans is fifth in the Western Conference standings, one game behind the Clippers and one game ahead of Dallas.
