ALABAMA vs GEORGIA – SANFORD STADIUM – ATHENS, GA – 7:30PM EDT
A massive Week 5 game on Saturday night between the Alabama Crimson Tide travelling on the road to Athens, GA to face the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs. Both of these teams are coming off a bye week so they should be well prepared for one another.
Both offenses are explosive, Alabama is a great passing team putting up 300 plus yards passing in their last 2 games and put up 254 passing yards in their road loss to Florida St. Georgia offense is more balanced with the pass & run putting up 470 yds of total offense on average in their 3 games this season.
Georgia defense has shown some weaknesses against the pass allowing 371 passing yards to Tennessee in their last game which Alabama should be able to take advantage of.
Alabama has shown some weakness against the run allowing 230 rush yards to Florida State in Week 1. The big trend in this series is that Alabama owns Georgia going 9-1 straight up in their last 10 meetings but most of those games in that same size were either on a neutral field in a conference championship or national championship.
I am less focused on the side and more focused on the total because last year these 2 teams met as ranked #2 & #4 in the country with Alabama winning at home 41-34 with the total closing at 49.5. Now you see a total set at 53.5. When these 2 teams in a non-neutral field situation the over is 5-1.
Tennessee put up 41 on the Georgia defense 2 weeks ago and Alabama gave up 31 to Florida St so I expect both offenses to flourish and the defenses to take a step back. Give me the OVER in this game.
