APP ST vs BOISE ST – ALBERTSONS STADIUM – BOISE, ID – 7:30PM EDT
This is an underrated game between two historically great G5 teams in Appalachian State and Boise State on the blue turf in Boise, ID Saturday Night. Boise St is coming off a close win vs Air Force last week and is 2-1 on the year and App State is coming off a bye and off a 38-22 loss to a revamped Southern Miss team.
App State’s recent loss did look bad but breaking down the statistics, App St won the yards battle with +81 net yds but lost the game by 16 points. Looking at the drive charts, App St turned the ball over 3 times on the Southern Miss 4 twice and the Southern Miss 7-yard lines leaving a potential 21 points on the table.
Looking at the Boise defense this year, their weak point is their pass defense as they gave up 255 passing yards to USF in Week 1 and 246 passing yards to an Air Force team that typically runs the triple option! App State wants to pass the ball; they average 358 passing YPG so look for the Mountaineers to air it out here.
You get the rare occurrence here with App State as a double-digit dog. In those spots they are 4-1 ATS last 5. Boise State is in a potential lookahead spot as well with Notre Dame in South Bend on deck.
This is just too many points with a App State team off a misleading outcome and a Boise State team that is not as strong as they have been in the past. I’m on the road dog App State here.
