Denver vs. Las Vegas | Sunday, November 24, 2024

The Denver Broncos will enter this game coming off an exciting win over the Atlanta Falcons, improving their record to 6-5 after starting the season 0-2. The Raiders, on the other hand, began their current six-game losing streak earlier this year when the teams met in Week 5, with the Broncos dominating 34-18. The Raiders initially took a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, but the Broncos outscored them 34-8 in the three that followed. . Pat Surtain sparked the comeback with a 100-yard Pick-Six in the second quarter, shifting momentum and evening the score as the Broncos’ offense woke up.

The Denver Broncos have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2024 NFL season. While much of the preseason talk centered around Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams & Drake Maye as potential Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates, Bo Nix has slowly entered the conversation in the last month. Nix has thrown more touchdown passes (14) than any other rookie quarterback and is tied with Jayden Daniels for the most rushing touchdowns (4) among rookie QBs. Nix is also narrowly behind Daniels in both completion percentage and passing yards. Since their 0-2 start, the Broncos have gone 6-3, which could have easily been 7-2 if not for a game-winning field goal being blocked against the Chiefs.

The Falcons game showcased just how dangerous the Broncos can be when they’re firing on all cylinders. Bo Nix threw for over 300 yards, but it was his efficiency in the red zone that truly stood out. Going 4-for-4 with four touchdowns, Nix impressed both fans and coach Sean Payton, who praised his quick adaptation to the NFL. Courtland Sutton has emerged as one of Nix's top targets, with 49 receptions for 647 yards so far in 2024.

The Raiders are heading in a completely different direction, as head coach Antonio Pierce has struggled to settle on a clear QB1. Gardner Minshew started the season as the starter but has been benched multiple times in favor of Aidan O'Connell and Desmond Ritter, who was signed off the Cardinals' practice squad a few weeks ago. Pierce has announced that Minshew will start this week, following his best performance of the season, throwing for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins. Despite the loss, rookie Brock Bowers emerged as a bright spot, recording over 100 yards for the first time in his career. Bowers caught a career-high 13 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.

As they did in Week 5, the Raiders will need to get Brock Bowers involved early if they hope to break their losing streak. The team has struggled with its running game all season and had its worst performance last week, with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers leading the team in rushing yards with just 20. If the Raiders can’t get their ground game back on track this week, it will be incredibly difficult to find success against one of the hottest teams in football.
