CARDINALS @ COWBOYS 11/3/25

This week, Brian Schottenheimer put in more time with the defense in an effort to address the numerous issues that have plagued the Dallas Cowboys in their opening four defeats. With 30 touchdowns and 250 points in eight games, the Cowboys (3-4-1) are not far behind last year’s Carolina Panthers, who set a new NFL record by giving up 534 points.

As they head into tonight’s game against the Cardinals (2-5), Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are doing enough to stay afloat. They face an Arizona team coming to Arlington looking to break a five-game losing streak. It’s been a heart-breaking streak too. In each of the five Cardinals losses, the winning score occurred in the last five minutes of the game. Arizona lost those five games by a combined total of 13 points.

"No secret ingredient," stated Jonathan Gannon, head coach of the Cardinals. "Play and coach more effectively. The secret sauce doesn't exist. Simply put, you need to play better.

The Cowboys are scoring 41.3 points and gaining 441 yards per game at home this season as of Monday.

After playing for six different teams prior to joining the Cowboys, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney said he has enough experience to know Dallas should be winning on a regular basis.

"We have one of the NFL's top offenses. "Defense simply needs to step up," Clowney stated. "I think if we can get our side going like we need to, it could be a great team and try to head into the playoffs."

For the third consecutive game, Arizona will start quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Following the determination that Kyler Murray (foot) is not healthy enough to start, Gannon made the announcement on Saturday. Murray could "have a role" in the contest, according to Gannon, who listed Murray as questionable.

Given that Murray is 9-0 at AT&T Stadium, that would be a positive development. Murray went 5-0 when he was at Allen High School, 1-0 with Texas A&M, 2-0 with Arizona, and 1-0 with Oklahoma. Arizona was expecting Murray to be available on Monday evening. Prior to last week's bye, he missed the previous two games. Throughout the week, he was limited at practice.

Murray and everyone else in the Cardinals' locker room were getting ready for a "premium player" in Prescott, so Gannon said the week off was important.

"They've had some rest. "It appears somewhat different," Gannon remarked. "It was very beneficial."

Before facing the Cowboys, who lead the league in passing and average 4.7 yards per carry, rest can be crucial. The Cowboys have experienced problems at safety and cornerback, which has caused several games to switch to track-meet mode.

Among a variety of pass-catching options, Prescott has mainly relied on tight end Jake Ferguson (51 receptions, six touchdowns). McBride, his Arizona counterpart, leads his team with 47 receptions, 421 yards, and four touchdowns after recording 10 receptions and two touchdowns in Week 7.

As opponents have marched down the field to respond, Prescott's play has been somewhat washed out. Prescott has 16 touchdown passes, leads the league with 204 completions, and shares the NFL lead with six completions of 40 yards or more. However, against the Cowboys, opposing quarterbacks have 20 touchdown passes. Opponents average 8.2 yards per completion, while Prescott averages 7.1.

Dallas has allowed 30 points from five of its eight opponents. Denver scored more than 13 points in the first, second, and fourth quarters to score 44 points last week, while the Cowboys gave up at least seven points in 10 of the previous 13 quarters.

Behind a moderate pass rush, Dallas has alternated between man and zone coverage. Considering the Cardinals' struggling running game, there are many options. Top backs James Conner and Trey Benson are on injured reserve, and Murray leads the team in rushing (173 yards). Next week, Benson might return.

On Saturday, six Dallas defenders were ruled out. Cornerback Shavon Revel (knee) and safeties Donovan Wilson (elbow/shoulder) and Alijah Clark (ribs) are on the list. Additionally sidelined are defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey (back), linebackers Jack Sanborn (groin), and DeMarvion Overshown (knee). Center Cooper Beebe (ankle), tackle Ajani Cornelius (both knees) and Juanyeh Thomas (migraine) are questionable. According to Schottenheimer, he anticipates Beebe playing.

The Cardinals will be without linebacker BJ Ojulari due to a knee injury. Joining Murray as questionable are defensive lineman Walter Nolen III (calf), CBs Garrett Williams (knee) and Will Johnson (groin) and safety Kitan Crawford (ankle).

TREY MCBRIDE OVER 67.5 RECEIVING YARDS

McBride is the Cardinals leading receiver with 47 catches and 421 yards. He also has 4 touchdowns. His receiving yards prop hasn’t been set this high since the first game of the season. Backup QB Jacoby Brissett has gone to McBride a lot and the Cardinals TE ended up clearing tonight’s number in each of his last two games. He had 72 yards against Indianapolis and 74 against Green Bay. He’s only cleared this number in 3 of 7 games, but the higher total suggests he should be very involved in the offense tonight.
