Roma Over 1.5 Team Total Goals at +120 20*
Celtic arrive here in the middle of transition. Martin O’Neill’s caretaker spell brought stability and seven wins from eight, yet the club have opted for a different direction by appointing former Columbus Crew manager Wilfried Nancy. It is a bold move, but also a significant shift in profile. Nancy is a progressive and attack-minded coach, and while that could eventually benefit Celtic, it may also lead to a more open contest against elite opposition.
Celtic’s underlying numbers in Europe underline the risk:
Their European xG difference this season sits at around minus 0.17, despite facing weaker opposition than Roma.
Across their last 10 European matches (excluding Champions League qualifiers), they have averaged 2.14 xGA per game, a clear indication of how frequently they concede chances.
They are also without starting centre back Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has been sidelined since late October.
Roma look better equipped on every metric:
They carry a positive xG difference of 0.98 per 90 in Europe this season and have done so against a tougher schedule.
A shared opponent offers a small but telling comparison: Roma beat FC Midtjylland 2-1, while Celtic lost 3-1.
Final Word: Roma had been enjoying an excellent season before suffering back to back defeats, and this spot sets up well for a strong response. With Celtic opening up tactically under Nancy and missing key defensive protection, Roma should generate the opportunities needed to clear the two-goal mark.
