NFL ODDS, NFL PREDICTIONS, NFL PREVIEWS

CHIEFS @ SEAHAWKS 8/15/25
Former AFC West rivals will square off on the football field in the Emerald City on Friday night when the Kansas City Chiefs travel to play the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Kansas City, a 2.5-point favorite, lost to Arizona 20–17 on the road on Saturday night to start the preseason. As a 5.5-point underdog, Seattle covered the line in their 23-23 home tie against the Raiders last Thursday to begin their preseason schedule. The Chiefs have a 34-19 lead in the teams' all-time regular season series, including a 24-10 victory at home in their most recent meeting on December 24, 2022.
In their preseason opener against the Cardinals, Kansas City got off to a fast start and led by double digits in the first half, but they were unable to maintain that lead and lost by a field goal. Here, the Chiefs aim to bounce back from their loss and even their conference record against a well-known opponent. Kansas City was losing to Arizona 17–14 at halftime after leading 7–0 less than a minute into the game and 14–3 with 9:52 remaining in the first half. On the first play of the final quarter, the Chiefs gave up the game-winning field goal, their final two possessions ended in punts, and they tied the score at 17 halfway through the third quarter.
Kansas City lost time of possession by a margin of 30:24 to 29:36, gave up 24 first downs while gaining 17, and was outscored 355-249 in total offense. They forced three turnovers and committed two during the game, but those numbers made up for it.
Patrick Mahomes' only pass of the game covered one yard and it ended up being a touchdown pass to Jason Brownlee. Gardner Minshew (6-of-9, 54 yards, four rush yards, and TD) outplayed Chris Oladokun (6-of-13, 39 yards, 26 rush yards) and Bailey Zappe (8-of-17, 70 yards, two INT, two rush yards) in the competition for spots on the depth chart. No one really stood out in the run game. Carson Steele wasa the leading rusher with 15 yards on three carries.
Whether Mahomes and the other Chiefs starters will play in this game is uncertain. As kickoff approaches, keep an eye out for Andy Reid's updates.
Last week, Seattle played the Raiders and former coach Pete Carroll to start the preseason. The Seahawks dominated the game for the majority of it, leading 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, 16-3 at the half, and 16-10 at the end of the third quarter. Despite giving up the game's final 10 points as time ran out, Seattle still had a 23–13 lead with 9:39 left. As time ran out, Jalan Gaines stopped Daniel Carlson's 55-yard field goal attempt, sparing Seattle from a possible defeat.
Sam Darnold, the anticipated number one quarterback who inked a three-year, $100 million contract in the offseason, did not play for Seattle in that game. Drew Lock, a veteran, saw the most action in the competition for the backup position (12-of-22, 147 yards, TD, INT, four rush yards). Jalen Milroe, a rookie, performed well in his action (6-of-10, 61 yards, 37 rush yards). Even without Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III, Seattle's run game was potent, averaging 5.3 yards per carry on their way to a 170-yard performance.
As coach Mike MacDonald gets his team up to speed before the regular season, expect to see at least some action from the majority of Seattle's starters.

The majority of games in Week 1 of the preseason went Over the total - 14-2-0 O/U in Week 1 (including the Hall of Fame game). Scoring was way up compared to the typical preseason. As a result, we are seeing higher totals in Week 2. This game total reached 42.5 at some books before more line movement brought it back down to 39.5. With both KC and Seattle playing starters early in this game, look for more scoring in the first half. In Week 1, both teams put up double digit point totals in the opening half. Seattle scored 16 and KC had 14. Expect both defenses to play more basic coverages which will allow both starters and backups to thrive early in tonight’s game.
