CLIPPERS @ NUGGETS 4/29/25
In their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver pulled off a huge victory on Saturday to regain home-court advantage. The Nuggets will now attempt to seize control in Game 5 on Tuesday night.
The first walk-off dunk in NBA playoff history, Aaron Gordon's slam beat the clock and gave Denver new life after two heartbreaking losses. The series is now tied at two games apiece.
With the Nuggets hosting Game 5 and potentially Game 7, a best-of-seven series is now down to a best-of-three situation. Historically, teams that win Game 5 when tied 2-2 go on to win the series. However, Denver has suffered heartbreak twice in this situation.
The Nuggets have lost Game 7 at home twice in the past seven seasons after winning Game 5 in a 2-2 tie. They lost last season to Minnesota and against Portland in 2019.
At the end of Saturday's first half, the teams got physical and it almost turned into a brawl. Michael Porter Jr. was in danger of receiving a suspension when he began to come off the bench. Six technical fouls were called, but no one was ejected from the game.
Kawhi Leonard leads the Clippers in scoring average (26.5 points per game) and has performed well both offensively and defensively throughout the series. Following his 32-point performance in Game 1, James Harden has been held to a minimum by the Nuggets. In the last three games, he has averaged 17.7 points.
In this series, Los Angeles has used its bench more than its starting lineup, despite having four players who average double figures in scoring. Harden's 39.5 minutes is the team high, and eight players are averaging at least 14 minutes per game.
With three of its starters—Christian Braun, Jamal Murray, and Nikola Jokic—averaging more than 40 minutes each, Denver has been more dependent on its starters. Gordon averages 39.8 minutes per game. In this series, Jokic leads the team in assists (10.8), rebounds (13.5), and points (28.5). Despite playing with a left shoulder injury, Porter is scoring 10.5 points per game. Russell Westbrook is still questionable for tonight’s game with a foot injury.

COACH RICK FREE PICK:
NORMAN POWELL OVER 17.5 POINTS
Powell became a full-time starter for the Clippers this season. As a result, he averaged a career-high 21.8 points per game. He kind of disappeared in Games 1 and 2 of this series. He only had 25 combined in the first two games, but he rebounded and had 20 in Game 3 and 22 in Game 4. Powell went Over tonight’s number in 69 percent of all of his games this season.
