Nola gets the start tonight for Philadelphia, which faces elimination after losing each of the first two games of this series in their home ballpark. Nola doesn't inspire a lot of confidence given his season record and ERA.
Nola went 5-10 with a 6.01 ERA this season. The ERA number was one of the highest in MLB among qualified starters. Nola's record and ERA were even worse when he pitched on the road this season. He didn't win a game and went 0-6 with a 6.97 ERA in 8 road starts this season.
Nola's Outs prop is set at an almost unheard of 8.5 outs, but it does make sense. Nola will be on a short leash and at the first sign of trouble, Phillies manager Rob Thomson will give him the axe.
It's likely to happen too. Of the first 6 batters Nola will face, there are some serious numbers in favor of the Dodgers. Mookie Betts, for example, will bat second in the Dodgers order. He bats .391 with 2 homers and 7 RBI against Nola. Further down in the order, Enrique Hernandez hits .364 with 3 homers and 6 RBI against Nola.
The Dodgers scored 4 and 5 runs in the first two games of the series. They're averaging nearly 6 per game over their last 10. I think they get to Nola in the first two innings tonight.
