This is a spot where you have to trust the numbers. The 49ers have had a barrage of injuries. They will get a player or two back, but they will be without Fred Warner and Nick Bosa for the remainder of the season.
Those two players will have an effect on the Niners defense, but DC Robert Saleh is still one of the best and he'll get great effort from the next men up. QB Brock Purdy is out as are WRs Ricky Pearsall and Brandon Aiyuk along with a host of others.
So, why is it then that San Francisco is still favored against the red-hot Falcons? Mac Jones, who is actually listed as questionable but will play tonight, is playing very well in the NFL's No. 1 passing offense.
The defense is good enough and the Niners catch Atlanta on a short week after the Falcons scored a huge win over Buffalo last Monday night. Atlanta has won two straight, both impressive wins over the Bills and Commanders. The Falcons aren't their best after a SU win, just 11-22-1 ATS in this spot since 2020.
