It's a short week for both teams and, typically, these Thursday games favor the home team since they don't have to travel. That may be the case tonight, but the bigger issue is a Houston defense that ranks No. 1 in the NFL in points allowed per game.
Houston ranks No. 1 in scoring defense allowing 16.3 points per game. They've won 3 of their last 4 games, holding the losers to fewer than 20 points. Buffalo's offense is very good as we all saw last Sunday when the Bills put up 44 points on Tampa Bay.
The Bills will still be without TE Dalton Kincaid. Buffalo has been relying more on its running game. They lead the NFL with 147.6 rushing yards per game, but they'll face a Houston defense that ranks third against the run.
More importantly, Houston will rely on that defense to slow down the Bills early in this game. Remember, it's a short week and Houston has a slight advantage in not having to travel. The bigger advantage is their defense. Don't let Davis Mills scare you either. He's been fine the last two weeks.
It's kind of surprising that you can still get Houston +3.5 in the first half. Houston can keep this game close early on and Buffalo has been notorious for its slow starts. This season, Buffalo is just 3-7 against the first half spread.
