Here we go! It's the first NFL free pick of the 2025 NFL season. Defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia will host NFC East Division rival Dallas in the league's annual kickoff game.
The Eagles bounced around as favorites of -6.5 and -7 up until the huge announcement that Cowboys sack leader Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers. The Dallas defense really wasn't all that great with Parsons. Dallas ranked 31st in points allowed per game (27.5) last season. Only Carolina was worse.
Dak Prescott returns healthy to the Dallas lineup. He didn't play against Philly at all last season. He was injured the week before the Cowboys played the Eagles in November. Dallas added George Pickens to complement CeeDee Lamb. If you remember, Prescott has had some success against Dallas in his career. I think he can have enough success to cash this free pick.
Philadelphia returns virtually the entire offense that averaged 29 points per game last season. Jalen Hurts returns along with NFL rushing leader Saquon Barkley, WR A.J. Brown, and TE Dallas Goedert are just a few of the weapons available for head coach Nick Sirianni.
That offense, plus a Dallas offense that should be able to produce at least a field goal, will be enough to put up at least 10 points in the opening quarter tonight. Back the Over in the first quarter.
