EAGLES @ CHIEFS 2/9/25
Tonight, the Caesars Superdome is about to serve up a dish of history as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to battle the Philadelphia Eagles for the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl LIX. This clash marks the second time in three years that these two teams meet in the Super Bowl. The two played in a nail-biter in Super Bowl LVII where the Chiefs clinched a thrilling 38-35 victory against Philadelphia.
Operating under the expert leadership of coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have gone 49-11 record in games since the 2022 season began. They are unbeaten in the playoffs too. Reid and Mahomes will be playing their 21st playoff game, carrying the badge of honor from their four previous Super Bowl appearances and three championship rings.
Naturally, the Chiefs playoff winning streak has sparked a sentiment among some fans who are hoping for a shift in the champions' podium. Tons of fans are on the 'I'm sick of the Chiefs: bandwagon. However, securing a fourth ring and achieving an unprecedented three-peat in Super Bowl history will be no small feat. The Chiefs will have to neutralize the threat posed by Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Philadelphia's powerful defense, which ranks at the top of the league.
A fourth Lombardi Trophy would bring Patrick Mahomes on par with Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw for the most QB Super Bowl wins. The Kansas City quarterback also has a chance to leapfrog both Montana and Aaron Rodgers for second place in all-time playoff TDs thrown.
Facing off against the Chiefs is Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who has yet to secure a win against Mahomes. Fangio has faced Mahomes eight times - six when he was the head coach at Denver and two times as the DC at Miami. However, Fangio's defense led the league in passing defense this season, which will present a challenge to Mahomes and the Chiefs.
One of the major threats to the Chiefs is Eagles RB Saquon Barkley, who has amassed 2,447 rushing yards this season. Eagles' QB Jalen Hurts has had a pretty good run against the Chiefs in the past. He is another key player to watch.
The Eagles have been leaning heavily on their offensive line, coupled with the explosive runs by Barkley and Hurts. This blend of strategy has seen them attempt more rushing plays than passing ones. They will likely employ a similar strategy on Sunday night.

JAKE ELLIOTT OVER 6.5 POINTS
We’ve got two great defenses in this game, but also two offenses that are likely to move the football at least at some point in this game. While the offenses are solid, the red zone defenses are outstanding - both are top 10. The result will be quite a few field goal attempts. There were 7 made field goals in last year’s Super Bowl and 4 in Super Bowl LVII played between these same two teams. Elliott has gone Over this number in each of his last seven games. He’s scored 27 points in the postseason.
