When the Philadelphia Eagles travel to the New York Giants, Philly hopes to bounce back from its first defeat since last December. The Giants haven't won a Thursday game in ten years. New York is 0-10 on Thursdays under their last four head coaches, while the Eagles (4-1) have won their last three Thursday night games under coach Nick Sirianni.

Former coaches Ben McAdoo, Pat Shurmur, and Joe Judge were all 0–2, while current coach Brian Daboll is 0–4. During Tom Coughlin's final season as a coach, New York defeated Washington 32–21 in 2015, their last victory on the short week.

That's just one of the plotlines for this prime-time NFC East matchup, which also marks Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart's division debut and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley's second return to MetLife Stadium.

Last week, Philadelphia led 17-3 going into the fourth quarter and was headed for a franchise-record 11th consecutive victory when the Denver Broncos roared back to capture a stunning 21-17 upset. Barkley only had six rushes in that game, which is the fewest carries he has had since Week 11 of 2021 while playing for the Giants. Barkley did score against Denver on a 47-yard pass play—the longest by an Eagles running back since 2016.

Maybe going back to his old haunts will give Barkley, who has 267 rushing yards and is ranked 22nd in the NFL, a boost. In Week 7 of last season, he carried 17 times for 176 yards and a touchdown in a 28-3 victory over the Giants in his first game back in East Rutherford, New Jersey. To become the first member of the 2018 draft class to reach 10,000 scrimmage yards, Barkley needs to gain 11 yards.

The Giants' most recent first-round selection is the main topic of discussion. In his first NFL start in Week 4, Dart defeated the Los Angeles Chargers at home. Last weekend, he led 14-3 against New Orleans before the Saints scored the game's final 23 points. He is thrilled to take on the reigning Super Bowl champion and his first opponent in the NFC East.

Dart was listed as limited on Monday due to a hamstring issue, but he participated fully in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tyrone Tracy Jr., the running back for the Giants, was listed as healthy on Wednesday's injury report, meaning he could make a comeback against the Eagles.

Tracy, 25, has been limited in practice this week due to a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action since Week 3. In three games this season, he has rushed for 68 yards on 22 carries. Last season, as a rookie, the second-year back ran for 839 yards and five touchdowns.

Following his limited practice time on Wednesday, right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (back) is doubtful. Due to their lack of practice throughout the week, linebackers Swayze Bozeman (ankle) and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) as well as wideout Darius Slayton (hamstring) will not play in Thursday's game.

Barkley participated fully on Wednesday after being a limited participant on Tuesday. He enters Thursday's game without an injury designation. After being listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's walkthrough session, Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter (heel) is considered questionable. Additionally listed as doubtful to make his season debut is linebacker Nakobe Dean (knee). On January 12, while Philadelphia defeated the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round, he tore his patellar tendon.

Both tight end Grant Calcaterra (oblique) and left guard Landon Dickerson (ankle) are out for Thursday's game for Philadelphia.

Including the playoffs, the Eagles have won seven of the previous eight meetings.

GAME TOTAL UNDER 41

This total opened at 42.5 and is down to 40.5 at most books. Buy the half-point to land on the key number. Both teams are run-heavy offenses, which tends to limit the number of possessions in a game and bleed the clock. The Giants are 4-1 to the Under this season, including the last 3 games in a row. Philly is 3-2 to the Under. Both games between these two went Under last year, as have 5 of the last 6 meetings.
