Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is hoping that this time will be different from the last. This will be Cousins third trip to Lincoln Financial Field for a primetime game in Week 2 in three seasons. As a member of the Minnesota Vikings, he lost in each of the previous two seasons, losing 24-7 on September 19, 2022, and 34-28 on September 14 last year, on Thursday Night Football.

In Cousins' Falcons debut, Atlanta (0-1) suffered an 18-10 home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers to start the season. In his first game since rupturing his right Achilles tendon in October of last year and his first since inking a $180 million contract in March, Cousins appeared rusty.

Against the Steelers, Cousins completed 16-of-26 passes for 155 yards, threw two interceptions, and tossed a touchdown pass. The Falcons avoided play-action with their 36-year-old signal-caller and almost exclusively used the pistol or shotgun. Cousins was also hit seven times and sacked twice.

Cousins has more career passing yards (3,341) and touchdown passes (26) against the Eagles than any other opponent, including his time with NFC East rival Washington. He has a 6-5 record against the Eagles. He completed 31-of-44 passes for 364 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the game played at the Linc last year.

The Eagles (1-0) should be rested and fully recovered after not playing for ten days. The Eagles recorded a 34-29 victory over Green Bay in Sao Paulo, Brazil, last Friday night. In his Philadelphia debut, linebacker Zack Baun racked up two sacks, matching his career high from 62 games played with the New Orleans Saints (2020–23). After Jordan Love left the game due to a knee injury, he preserved the victory with a game-ending sack against Malik Willis.Baun added a game-high 15 tackles with 11 solo stops.

Despite gaining 414 yards against the Eagles, the Packers managed just one touchdown in four attempts to reach the red zone against the defense of new coordinator Vic Fangio. On the other side of the ball, Saquon Barkley made a huge debut for Philadelphia, offsetting Jalen Hurts' two interceptions and a botched exchange with new center Cam Jurgens. Barkley finished with 132 yards from scrimmage andthree touchdowns.

The Atlanta defense didn’t allow the Steelers to score a touchdown. Pittsburgh settled for six Chris Boswell field goals in last week’s defeat of the Falcons. In his Falcons debut, Matt Judon recorded six tackles and a half-sack in addition to 1.5 sacks from Grady Jarrett. On offense, Falcons RB Bijan Robinson had 111 yards from scrimmage.

The injury report shows Milton Williams, a defensive tackle for the Eagles, was only partially active during practice on Thursday. After missing Week 1, linebacker Devin White (ankle) and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers (hand) are back. Falcons right tackle Kaleb McGary (groin) was limited in practice on Thursday, while linebacker Nate Landman (calf, quad) and cornerback Antonio Hamilton (groin) did not practice.
