The Vanderbilt Commodores host the Georgia St Panthers on Saturday night. A game that should mean a lot to the Commodores as there is recent memory of what happened when these two teams met up last year.
Vanderbilt is off a big win vs South Carolina last week 31-7 on the road as a dog. They are off back to back road wins where they dominated in scoring with a +24 pt differentials against both Va Tech and South Carolina.
Georgia St is just 1-2 on the year but off their 1st win of the season against Murray St at home. In their previous 2 games they were dominated by Memphis 38-16 at home and 63-7 to Ole Miss.
One of the major weak points of the Georgia St Panthers in their inability to stopping the run game. They game up 295 rushing yds to Ole Miss (6.7 YPC) and 205 rushing yards to Memphis (5.1 YPG).
Vanderbilt has a great rush offense putting up 203 rush YPG (5.8 YPC) led by their Top RB Sedrick Alexander (5.6 YPC) and their scrappy running QB Diego Pavia (4.3 YPC).
This is a big revenge game for Vanderbilt as they lost to Georgia St 36-32 last year on the road allowing 426 yds of total offense and -46 net yd avg for the game.
Defense was a big soft spot for the Commodores last year but they seemed to fix that only allowing 237 yds of total offense to their opponents so far vs allowing 394 yds or more of total offense to 9 opponents in 2024!
The total is what I am looking at here as last season the total was set at 44.4 and it landed at 68 points. Now you see the total set at 53.5 less than a year later.
Vanderbilt is 13-2 to the OVER vs non-conference opponents dating back to 2022 so I think we will see another high scoring game from a Commodores team seeking revenge.
