BULLDOGS @ WILDCATS 9/14/24
No. 1 Georgia will test its 41-game winning streak during the regular season when the Bulldogs play the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington, Kentucky in an SEC game. Georgia (2-0) lost to Florida on November 7, 2020, and hasn't lost since during the regular season. Last Saturday, the Bulldogs easily defeated FCS Tennessee Tech 48-3. The Bulldogs pounded No. 14 Clemson in Week 1 and head coach Kirby Smart’s team has now outscored its first two opponents 82-6.
Carson Beck tied a school record with five touchdown passes in just over a half of play on Saturday. Head coach Kirby Smart's team is currently getting ready for its first road test ahead of the conference opener. It can be a tough place to play, though Kentucky did lose at home last week to South Carolina.
Brock Vandagriff, the starting quarterback for Kentucky and a former Georgia player, will have a chance to get back at his old team. Vandagriff played mop-up quarterback for the Bulldogs for three seasons, throwing for 165 yards and two touchdowns. In December, the former five-star recruit and native of Georgia entered the transfer portal and chose Kentucky.
In the 51-13 victory over Kentucky last season, Vandagriff scored his second touchdown as a Bulldog. In the Wildcats' 31-6 home loss to South Carolina last Saturday, Vandagriff and company had a dismal offensive performance following an effective performance in the team's Week 1 victory over visiting Southern Miss.
Gavin Wimsatt replaced Vandagriff and he wasn’t much better. Vandagriff ended up just 3-of-10 for 30 yards and threw an interception. Wimsatt was 3-of-7 for 14 yards and a pick. Whoever plays against Georgia will have to play better.
Mark Stoops, the head coach of Kentucky for 12 years, has never defeated Georgia. All but one of their meetings have been decided by double digits. Georgia has a 63-12-2 record and has dominated the series. The Bulldogs were last defeated by Kentucky in 2009. The last time the Wildcats defeated a No. 1 team was in 2007. They are 3-17 all-time against No. 1-ranked teams. Kentucky beat LSU in 2007.
Georgia has won 19 of its last 20 games. The Bulldogs have failed to cover in 4 of the last 5 meetings with Kentucky. The Wildcats are 3-7 SU in their last 10 games. They are also 1-6 ATS in their last seven SEC games.

COACH RICK FREE PICK:
FREE PICK: GEORGIA (1Q) -6.5
Georgia owns this series and Kentucky is coming off a bad loss. Brock Vandagriff is a former 5-star high school quarterback who is following in a long line of former Kentucky QBs. It’s where former 5-stars go to die. The Kentucky offense is awful. The Wildcats managed just 6 points last week and they are averaging 18.5. Georgia has yet to score a first quarter point, but that will change on Saturday. The Bulldogs are ninth in the country in scoring margin (+31.0). They have had issues when playing at Kentucky, but not this time.
