GUARDIANS @ YANKEES 6/3/25

The New York Yankees had a successful West Coast trip despite a frustrating weekend at Dodger Stadium during their highly anticipated series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Yankees will host the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game series after a 6-3 road trip.

After going a combined 10-5 on two recent West Coast trips, the Yankees will play 13 of their next 19 games at home. New York defeated the Los Angeles Angels and Colorado Rockies five out of six games on the previous trip before having a rough time against the Dodgers.

The Yankees made a strong comeback with a 7-3 victory on Sunday night after losing to the reigning world champions 26-7 in the first two games. DJ LeMahieu recorded four of New York's eleven hits, including a two-run homer from Ben Rice, for the second baseman's first four-hit performance since June 26, 2021.

Prior to the matchup with the Dodgers, the Yankees had won seven consecutive series; however, they come home with 17 victories in their last 23 games. They are 18-9 overall, including seven of their last eight games at Yankee Stadium.

The Guardians enter this series having won seven of their last 11 games since dropping the Yankees, who they faced April 21–23 in Cleveland, taking two of three.

Jose Ramirez had two hits and a home run on Sunday, raising his average over his last 13 games to.426 (23-for-54). Although Ramirez's 21-game hitting streak ended on Friday, he had multi-hit games and hit home runs in Cleveland's two victories over the Angels.

With two hits and two runs scored Sunday, outfielder Nolan Jones is now 8-for-14 in his last four games and 16-for-48 (.333) in his last 16 appearances.

Carlos Rodon (7-3, 2.60), who has a 6-0 record and a 1.27 ERA over his last eight starts, is starting the series for the Yankees. Rodon has won his last three starts and given up just one run. In a 3-2 victory over the Angels last Tuesday, Rodon recorded his fourth scoreless start of the season and his second in a row, giving up five hits in seven innings while striking out ten.

In a 5-1 victory on April 23, Rodon made his second start of the current winning streak in Cleveland, where he struck out eight batters while giving up an unearned run on four hits. The left-hander has a 9-5 record and a 2.66 ERA in 22 career appearances (20 starts) against the Guardians, and he has faced Cleveland more than any other team in his career. In their games together, he has held Ramirez to an 11-for-50.220 average and no home runs.

Cleveland's Tanner Bibee (4-5, 3.86) will start. Tuesday's 9-5 loss to the Dodgers came after Bibee gave up four runs on seven hits in five innings, dropping him to 1-3 with a 3.24 ERA in his last four appearances.

Bibee has made two career regular-season starts against the Yankees and is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA. He pitched six innings and gave up two runs on five hits in a 3-2 victory on April 22.
