Klay Thompson returns to Chase Center in San Francisco on Tuesday, November 12, for the highly anticipated matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. It’s the first meeting between Dallas and Golden State this season. In 2023–24, the Mavericks had a 3-1 SU and ATS record against the Warriors. It’s also Thompson’s first time playing against his old teammates.
In their last four games, the Mavericks (5-5; 4-5-1 ATS) have only won once. The Mavs have dropped back-to-back games against the Phoenix Suns 114-113 and the Denver Nuggets 122-120. That came after a 134-127 loss to the Indiana Pacers and 119-99 spanking of the Chicago Bulls. This past Sunday, the Mavericks were a 2-point underdog at Denver's Ball Arena. Daniel Gafford contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, while Luka Doncic finished with 24 points and nine assists. The Mavs have a plus-4.0 net rating, but they are now 5-5 on the season. They give up 112.0 points per game (13th) and score 116.0 points per 100 possessions (8th) in the NBA. The Mavericks have the fewest turnovers per 100 possessions (11.9) and handle the ball well.
The Golden State Warriors (8-2; 8-2 ATS) recovered from a crushing 136-117 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 127-116 last Sunday to complete a five-game road trip. As 6.5-point underdogs, the Warriors shocked the Thunder. In the third quarter, Golden State outscored Oklahoma City 42–21, and the Warriors had a 30-point lead. The Dubs went 21-for-43 from beyond the arc.
At Oklahoma City's Paycom Center, Stephen Curry finished with 36 points and seven assists, including seven threes. Draymond Green finished with eight points and 11 assists, while De'Anthony Melton scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Warriors are currently tied for second place in the NBA with 120.1 points per 100 possessions. They are keeping their opponents to a 49.8 effective field goal percentage (2nd in the NBA) and giving up only 108.3 points (4th).
Golden State will be motivated to defeat Klay Thompson, who hasn't performed well in ten games with the Mavericks.. Thompson shoots 41.8% from the field and only manages 13.8 points per game.
Against the unbeaten Cavaliers, the Warriors had their worst defensive performance of the season. They seem to know how to slow down Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. In terms of opposing 3-point percentage (31.9%) and opposing 2-point percentage (51.2%), the Warriors rank first in the league. They have already defeated Boston 118–112 and Oklahoma City 127–116, two teams that are considered huge favorites to play for an NBA title.
