NUGGETS @ BUCKS 2/27/25
Tonight it’s a clash of MVP contenders as Giannis Antetokounmpo's Milwaukee Bucks host Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets. It's the first showdown in over a year between these two titans. After rebounding with a 125-116 victory against the Indiana Pacers, the Nuggets continue their four-game road trip. Despite a brutal loss to the Lakers last Saturday, Denver's recent performance has been impressive, winning 10 of the last 11 games.
Nuggets coach Mike Malone liked the way his team bounced back from a tough home loss to the Lakers.
In their win against Indiana, the Nuggets exhibited a balanced team effort with six players, scoring in double figures. Denver was led by Aaron Gordon who scored 25. Points. Jokic also contributed 18 points and a career-high 19 assists.
The Milwaukee Bucks' recent winning streak was halted at four games after a disappointing 100-97 loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. In the final minute, Damian Lillard had two unsuccessful attempts to tie the game from beyond the arc. He finished the game with 22 points. Post-game, Bucks head coch Doc Rivers addressed the need for the team to adapt on nights when Lillard isn't at his best.
Antetokounmpo, with an average of 31 points and 12 rebounds per game, leads the Bucks. Lillard, with an average of 25.5 points, has been the team's key playmaker, while Brook Lopez continues to dominate defensively, averaging two blocks per game for the third consecutive season.
Jokic is standing out yet again for Denver, achieving career-best averages in points (29.2), assists (10.4), and steals (1.8), along with 12.6 rebounds per game. He is now third in the league in scoring, second in assists, and third in rebounds and steals.
After a calf injury that saw him miss five games, Antetokounmpo's playing time restriction is gradually being lifted. He clocked 31 minutes on the court last Tuesday.
This is the first game between the Bucks and the Nuggets this season, but their duels have been riveting in recent years. The annual two-game series has ended in a draw for the last four seasons, following a Nuggets sweep in the 2019-20 season. In their most recent clash over a year ago, the Bucks won at home by a score of 112-95. Antetokounmpo led the winners with 36 points and 18 rebounds, while Jokic put up an equally impressive 29 points and 12 rebounds.

GAME TOTAL UNDER 240.5
Tonight’s total opened at 241.5 and is down a point. As prolific as both teams can be, historically this series has gone Under the total recently. Each of the last four games in the series cashed on the Under. Milwaukee has seen 4 of its last 5 games land on the Under and each of Denver’s last two games went Under the total. Interestingly, in those two Nuggets games, the game total was set at 240 or above. Each of the last four times Denver has faced such a total, the result was the Under.
