Cleveland, in a unique situation with three straight losses, travels to Phoenix tonight to continue a five-game Western Conference road trip. The Cavaliers (56-13), who lead the Eastern Conference, lost their opening two games of this tour on consecutive nights, losing to Sacramento 123-119 on Wednesday and the Clippers 132-119 on Tuesday.

In addition to losing to Orlando 108-103 at home last Sunday, Cleveland has now tied its longest losing streak of the year. However, the Cavaliers' lead in the East has not been significantly weakened by the skid. The Boston Celtics, who are the current NBA champions, have won three in a row and are now within six games.

Cleveland is now one game behind Oklahoma City, who are currently leading the West, for the league's best record and possible home-court advantage in a Finals matchup.

With 122.4 points per game, the Cavaliers have the highest scoring offense in the NBA. They also rank 11th in terms of scoring defense, giving up 112 points per game. Darius Garland, their second-leading scorer (20.9 points per game), was not used in Wednesday's game due to scheduled rest.

Phoenix has gotten off to a strong start to a crucial five-game homestand, so Cleveland should be at full strength against them. The Suns (33-37) defeated Chicago 127-121 to start their homestand and win their second straight and third in the last four games. Due to Phoenix's recent success and Dallas' continued difficulties, the Suns and Mavericks are now tied for 10th place in the Western Conference and the final play-in spot.

Milwaukee and Boston will visit the Valley next week, making Cleveland the first of three major opponents from the East that Phoenix will face.

Devin Booker had his fourth game of 40 points or more this season with 41 points in Wednesday's victory. Despite only scoring four points, guard Collin Gillespie is starting on a two-way contract and is rapidly establishing himself in the Phoenix lineup after breaking into the rotation during the previous week.

In Wednesday's victory, Gillespie finished with five rebounds, seven assists, and a steal. Tyus Jones, who averages 10.4 points and 5.7 assists per game, and scoring machine Grayson Allen, who averages 10.7 points per game off the bench, are joining him in the backcourt rotation.

Phoenix wants to improve its perimeter defense after giving up the ninth-highest amount of points in the NBA, 115.8 points per game. When the Suns play Cleveland, their guards will be up against a backcourt that features Donovan Mitchell, who averages 24.1 points per game, along with a number of strong complementary players. Ty Jerome, who has scored in double figures in the previous four games, is one of them.
