I did get this at the opening number which is still available in the -122 to -130 range. I project a 7 to 9 point win for the Retrievers, who are expected to compete with Vermont for the America East Conference title.
Army has won 3 of its last 4 games, but don't get too excited. The Black Knights have 4 total wins. They are 4-7 on the season, but two of those wins came against non-Division I opponents. A second win was against Fairleigh Dickinson, which is rated No. 360 in the latest KenPom rankings. The other win was an overtime victory over Manhattan, a team ranked 310th by KenPom.
Army starts four dudes under 6-foot-4 and they're style of play features something very interesting. They shoot more threes than anybody in the country. Unfortunately, they only make about 30 percent of them.
UMBC's defense is built to force teams off the 3-PT line and attack the glass. Army isn't great at doing that. Plus UMBC has some better scorers than the Black Knights. At home, the edge goes to the Retrievers.
