COLLEGE BASKETBALL
GEORGE MASON @ VCU (VCU -10.5, 130.5)
GEORGE MASON +10.5
These are the top two teams in the Atlantic-10. George Mason is in first place at 12-1. The only loss came early in the season at Rhode Island. Since that loss, the Patriots have won 10 straight.
VCU is 11-2 in the conference and both losses came on the road. The Rams lost by 2 at St. Bonaventure and by 9 at St. Louis. Since the loss at St. Louis, VCU has won 5 straight games. They are also 13-0 SU at home this season.
Both teams get it done with defense. They both rank in the top 15 in scoring defense allowing less than 63 points per game. That is reflected in today's total of 130.5. I'm not sure how VCU beats George Mason by double digits. Last year in a similar situation at George Mason, the two teams played a defensive battle. VCU won 54-50. I see something similar happening today. GM is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games and 5-0 ATS in its last 5 road games.
LLEGE BASKETBALL
SAINT MARY'S @ GONZAGA (GON -6.5, 142.5)
RYAN NEMBHARD OVER 0.5 THREE-POINTERS
It's the rematch. Remember, it's now Angry Gonzaga that has taken over. The Bulldogs lost to the Gaels on Feb. 1 at Saint Mary's. Since then, Gonzaga has won 5 straight and has crushed the competition. One of the reasons why is senior guard Ryan Nembhard.
Nembhard averages 11 points per game and he shoots 44.8 percent from three-point range. He has hit at least one three-pointer in 5 of his last 6 games. In the loss at Saint Mary's, Nembhard went 2-for-3 from deep. He's averaging three attempts per game and one make. In tonight's huge home game, he'll knock down at least one.
