BIG 12 TOURNAMENT 1ST ROUND
COLORADO vs. TCU (TCU -1.5 133.5)
TCU ML
These two teams just played on Saturday in the final regular season game for both teams. Colorado somehow found a way to beat TCU by 20 points. You can bet the Horned Frogs are ready to exact some revenge for that loss. TCU beat Colorado earlier in the season at home 68-57.
The Buffaloes, despite that win on Saturday, were awful over the second half of the regular season. Colorado went just 3-17 SU over its last 20 games. TCU stumbled down the stretch too, winning just one of its last five games, but the Horned Frogs are the better team here. They play better defense, force more turnovers, and they've got the revenge factor fresh in their minds from Saturday.
ACC TOURNAMENT 1ST ROUND
CALIFORNIA vs. VIRGINIA TECH (CAL -2.5, 140)
CALIFORNIA ML
These two teams played once back in early January. Virginia Tech won that game at Cal, 71-68. Since then, both these teams have had a tough time navigating the ACC schedule. The wins were hard to come by, but I think Cal is much better equipped to win this game tonight.
The Bears take care of the basketball better than VT. The Hokies ranks 331st in the nation in Turnover Rate. Cal also gets to the free throw line more often. The Bears are 36th in the country in Free Throw Rate. Cal is the better free throw shooting team too, hitting 75 percent from the line.
Virginia Tech's offense managed just 59 and 47 points in its final two regular season games. Yes, the opponents were Clemson and North Carolina, but the Hokies have issues on offense. They averaged just 69 points per game for the season. That's just not going to get it done against Cal.
