The North Texas offense is elite. The Mean Green are efficient. They can run. They can throw and it shows. Head coach Eric Morris's team averages 44.8 points per game, tops among American Athletic Conference teams.
The Mean Green average over 180 rushing yards per game and they are doing it with the two-headed monster of Mackenzie McGill and freshman Caleb Hawkins. Both have rushed for over 300 yards and Hawkins leads the team with seven rushing touchdowns.
Over the last four games, McGill has averaged a little over 14 carries per game. If he hits his average, he only needs to average about 2.9 yards per carry. He's averaging 5.0 per carry this season. McGill (and Hawkins) will go up against a USF run defense that is pretty good (132 yards/game), but they do allow 3.7 yards per carry.
It's also worth a look at McGill to score tonight. Hawkins is priced at -185, but McGill is given +105 odds to score and Anytime TD. The Mean Green's last game on Sept. 27 - a 36-22 win over South Alabama - was the first time McGill failed to score in eight games.
