ARMY @ TULSA (ARMY -12.5, 51)
ARMY (1H) -6.5
I've played Army a couple times this season and they've all been winners. Last week, I played North Texas at Tulsa and the pass-happy Mean Green tore the Golden Hurricane a new ass. Now, Tulsa has had to spend a week preparing to stop the triple option attack of Army. Not happening.
Army leads the nation in rushing, averaging 370 yards per game. They typically get off to good starts, eat up the clock, and cover first half spreads. Army averages 18.7 first-half points per game. Tulsa averages 7.5. The Golden Hurricane will be lucky if they get four first-half possessions. And, you know they aren't converting on all of them...if they convert on any.
TENNESSEE @ ARKANSAS (TEN -13.5, 57.5)
TENNESSEE (1H) -7.5
If you've followed Coach Rick, you know that I've got a thing for Tennessee and first-half spreads. That's because the Vols head coach Josh Heupel is the most profitable college football head coach against the first half spread over the last six years.
Heupel's teams are 51-22-2 ATS (1H). On the road, the numbers are even better - 28-8-1 ATS (1H). Tennessee has covered all four first-half spreads this season. The Vols lead the nation in first-half points, scoring an average of 34.7 points in the opening half.
MIAMI @ NEW ENGLAND (NE -1, 36.5)
DOLPHINS TEAM TOTAL UNDER 17.5
Miami's season is taking a nose dive with all of the injuries. Tyler Huntley will start again at quarterback for the Fins on Sunday. The Dolphins offense just isn't the same without Tua. Miami has scored 12, 3, and 10 points in their last three games. Even with Tua, the Dolphins only scored 20 in their 20-17 win over Jacksonville in the season opener.
New England's defense has given up some points recently, but that's because they played some guys named Brock Purdy and Aaron Rodgers. Huntley doesn't come close to either of those guys. With the spread at 1 and a total of 36.5, we should expect a low-scoring battle. The Patriots should be able to slow down a bad Miami offense.
