When the betting markets opened for this game, Buffalo was the early home favorite. The line has flipped to the road team, the Miami RedHawks despite some issues at quarterback. If you didn't know, Miami starting QB Dequan Finn, who had played four years at Toledo before transferring to Baylor then Miami, up and left the team last week.
That left backup Henry Hesson to start against a very good Toledo defense last week. Miami scored just three points and struggled to get anything going offensively. With Miami on the road this week, it was easy to see why Buffalo was favored initially.
Plus, the home team has won this game the last 7 times the two teams have played. Easy, right? Not so fast. The line movement plus a very good Miami defense and a solid RedHawks running game will help give Miami the edge.
These are two great coaches who are comfortable playing the field position game. It should be a low-scoring game and Hesson, with a full week of preparation as the starter under his belt, should be okay.
