It's Game 1 of the CFP quarterfinals. Miami is the biggest underdog of the four games. Both of these defenses are outstanding. Ohio State ranks No. 1 in the country allowing just 8.8 points per game. Miami is fourth allowing 13.8.
Both defenses are also top-10 in total defense and several other categories. I would expect both offenses to play it pretty close to the vest early to see how they can attack the opposing defense later in the game.
With the low total, we don't expect much scoring and with the conservative play early in the game, I would expect a low-scoring first half. That's why I like the underdog here.
Miami has covered +3.5 in seven straight games and in 12 of its 13 games this season. They trailed at the half just once (the loss to Louisville). In a close, low-scoring first half, the value is on the underdog Hurricanes.
