Tarleton State is a pretty good FCS program that went 10-4 last year and made the playoffs. Just six years ago, this was a Division II football program, but when you're situated in the heart of Texas there's enough talent to put together a competitive program.
The Texans played in Week 0 and dominated Portland State in a 42-0 victory. The winners ran for 301 yards with Tre Page III getting 170 of those on 15 carries. However, the Texans did fumble the ball away once and threw three interceptions. That could be problematic against an Army defense that returns five starters.
Army's offense will not be the same as last year as they lose QB Bryson Daly and RB Kanye Udoh (who you can see on Saturday night playing for Arizona State). But, while there will be some drop-off, the signature Army offense will do what it has done for years under Jeff Monken. That is run the football, control the time of possession, and limit the number of times that Tarleton State touches the football.
There were a number of games last year (and in year's past) where Army took the opening kickoff, went on a double-digit play drive, and ate up almost the entire first quarter while scoring a touchdown. Expect plenty of that tonight which will help keep the total Under 51.5.
