Yes, the Irish will start CJ Carr at quarterback for the first time. He is a redshirt freshman, though, and spent a year in the program. Remember last year too. The Irish didn't really rely on Riley Leonard to make a ton of throws, especially early in the season.
Then, there's the weather. There is rain in the forecast tonight, which favors the ground-heavy running attack of the Irish. Jeremiyah Love is one of the best RBs in the country. Love rushed for over 1,100 yards and 17 TDs last season and Jadarian Price added another 746 and 7 scores. Notre Dame will pound the ball at Miami, keep the Hurricanes offense off the field, and allow Carr to have some early success.
With rain early, take the Notre Dame running game to dominate the first half and give the Irish a ML win.
