SOUTH FLORIDA @ MIAMI (MIA -17.5, 56.5)

One of college football's biggest surprises, No. 18 South Florida, will face its most difficult test to date on Saturday in Miami Gardens, Florida, against No. 5 Miami. It wasn't a Top 25 matchup until last Saturday, when the Bulls (2-0) shocked then-No. 13 Florida 18-16 in Gainesville to record their second straight win over a ranked opponent.

USF beat then No. 25 Boise State 34–7 at home in Week 1. It was the first time since 2009 that the Bulls had defeated two ranked opponents in the same season and the first time they had defeated ranked opponents in consecutive weeks.

After a strong start, USF coach Alex Golesh is attempting to prevent his team from becoming sidetracked by the extra hype.

According to Golesh, "I think there's still so much to play for, there's so much still ahead of us," this week. "I genuinely think that a lot of people will tell the guys how good they are now, how good we are, and how good I am," I told them last week (after Boise State). Process-driven people simply return to their work immediately and worry about Sunday and Monday.

The Hurricanes (2-0) expected a difficult game even before USF's recent surge, as the Bulls held the game close for a half last year before Miami won 50-15 in Tampa. Miami has a 6-1 series record, and the Bulls' only win came at Miami in 2010.

One of the main reasons Miami respects USF is because Byrum Brown is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Brown has 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries, and he has completed 39 of 60 passes for 473 yards and a touchdown.

In the game against Miami last year, Brown completed 19-of-30 passes for 274 yards without an interception, but he did not run or throw for a touchdown. He did, however, catch a 12-yard touchdown pass.

In the offseason, Brown trained with Carson Beck, who will start for the Hurricanes for the third time.

Beck just broke the school record set by Vinny Testaverde in 1986 by completing his first 15 passes in a 45-3 victory over Bethune-Cookman. With 42 of 54 attempts for 472 yards and four touchdowns without an interception, Beck has flourished in Miami's offense.

With 12 catches for 162 yards, freshman Malachi Toney has become one of Beck's top targets, while CJ Daniels has 10 catches for 119 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bulls' offensive leader, Keshaun Singleton, has caught seven passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

FREE PICK: UNDER 56.5

The streak comes to an end. Miami's defense is legit with new DC Corey Hetherman. South Florida, while explosive on offense, ranks just 117th in Success Rate. Hetherman will figure out a way to bottle up USF QB Byrum Brown, who is essentially the entire Bulls offense. On the other end, Miami plays at one of the slowest paces in the country (113th in seconds per play). USF also plays pretty good defense. They did hold Florida to just 16 points last week.
