Iowa rolls into Piscataway, New Jersey, tonight for its Big Ten opener against Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights look outstanding on paper. Rutgers is 3-0 and they're averaging 46 points per game. If you look a little deeper though, you'll find that those wins came against Group of 6 Ohio, Miami (OH), and FCS Norfolk State.
When the Scarlet Knights play tonight, they will play with a patchwork offensive line. They have a ton of injuries up front. They will also be without their best receiver Ian Strong. Injuries have hurt the defensive line as well. Keeping up with a pretty good Iowa team is going to be tough.
What Iowa loves to do is play great defense and then run the football on offense. Currently, the Hawkeyes rank 30th in the nation averaging 214 rushing yards per game. They are doing it without the guy that was supposed to be RB1 - Kamari Moulton. That's no problem and Xavier Williams and Jaziun Patterson have stepped in. Also, transfer QB Mark Gronowski is a skilled runner too and he leads Iowa with 3 rushing touchdowns.
Tonight, look for Iowa to pound the ball at a shorthanded Rutgers defense. When they get deep in the red zone, look for Williams to capitalize at least once and get that Anytime TD. You can get that bet at +175 at bet365.
