ARIZONA @ MIAMI (ARI -164, 8.5)
MARLINS +1.5
Brandon Pfaadt goes up against Max Meyer in this one. Meyer has been the surprise of the Marlins rotation this season. Miami has won two of his three starts this season. Meyer himself is 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA. He has struck out 19 batters in 18 innings of work.
Pfaadt has also pitched well for the Diamondbacks. He is 2-1 in his three starts and has a 3.50 ERA. The issue with Pfaadt is that his xERA is 5.88. He's been tagged for four home runs already this season and that xERA number means he is due for some regression.
Miami isn't known for its offense. The Marlins rank 15th in MLB right now averaging 4.3 runs per game. However, over their last six games, Miami has scored 36 runs. I think they can get to Pfaadt and at least keep this one close.
SEATTLE @ CINCINNATI (SEA -120, 8.5)
MARINERS ML
Nick Martinez starts for Cincinnati and he has been awful so far this season. Three starts for Martinez; three losses for the Reds. Martinez is 0-2 with a 6.06 ERA. He's pitching at home, but that means he's pitching at Great American Ballpark, one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks in all of MLB.
The Mariners are not a powerhouse on offense, but over their last five games Seattle has averaged 5.6 runs per game. The Mariners are 4-1 SU in those 5 games and Bryce Miller is their starting pitcher tonight. Miller (0-2, 4.50) is coming off his best start - 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 5 K - as the Mariners beat the Rangers last Friday. Seattle lost the series opener last night and bounces back with a win tonight against Martinez.
