The Los Angeles Dodgers (16-6) and San Francisco Giants (9-13) continue their storied rivalry tonight at Oracle Park. This matchup features a significant pitching advantage for the Dodgers with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound against Landen Roupp. While the Dodgers are currently without Mookie Betts (10-Day IL) and Freddie Freeman (Paternity), their lineup depth remains formidable, especially with the recent surge from Max Muncy and Andy Pages.

The Dodgers enter as heavy favorites, and the data supports this positioning. Yamamoto has been elite, posting a 2.10 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP through four starts. His control has been the story of his 2026 campaign, issuing only two walks in 25.2 innings. He faces a Giants offense that ranks 27th in wRC+ (81) against right-handed pitching and has struggled at home, averaging just 3.4 runs per game at Oracle Park.

Roupp has been impressive for San Francisco with a 2.38 ERA, but he faces a massive step up in competition. The Dodgers lead the league in several slugging categories, and Roupp’s modest velocity profile may struggle against a lineup that slugs .494 as a team. While the Giants +1.5 spread is tempting given the pitcher-friendly environment of Oracle Park (0.93 runs factor), the Dodgers' moneyline might be the most secure play.

Yamamoto has been a road warrior, maintaining a 2.10 ERA and a 28.8% strikeout rate away from home since last season. In his last 20 games, he has hit the over on a strikeout line of 5.5 Ks 85% of the time, averaging 6.55 strikeouts per appearance.

The Giants' lineup presents a challenging matchup as they strike out at a 20.7% clip against righties and have been even more prone to the K at home (21.8%). Yamamoto’s splitter has been a nightmare for right-handed hitters this season, and he previously averaged 7.0 strikeouts per game against this Giants roster in 2025.

Andy Pages is arguably the hottest hitter in the Dodgers' lineup right now. He is batting .370 with a .605 slugging percentage and has recorded a hit in 16 of his last 20 games. Pages has a specific comfort level against Landen Roupp, posting a .500 average and a 1.100 OPS in their limited head-to-head history. When playing on the road this season, Pages has been even more reliable, hitting the over on his 0.5 Hits prop in 8 of his 10 road contests. 

While Matt Chapman is having a solid season overall for the Giants, he faces his kryptonite tonight in Yamamoto. In 12 career plate appearances against Yamamoto, Chapman has zero hits and has struck out 6 times (50% K rate). Yamamoto’s high-velocity fastballs and devastating splitter have completely neutralized Chapman’s swing path. While Chapman has been hitting well over his last 5 games, this specific pitcher-batter history is too dominant to ignore. Chapman Under 0.5 Hits at +120 is worth consideration.

Tonight’s game total opened at 7.5 and some books have moved it down to 7. You can still find 7.5s in the -120 to -130 range. The total reflects the pitcher-friendly nature of Oracle Park and the quality of the starting pitchers. 

The Giants are averaging just 3.4 runs at home, and Yamamoto has not allowed more than two runs in any start this year. While the Dodgers' offense is explosive, Oracle Park’s heavy air and cold night winds often suppress power.

This should be a great pitching matchup in a stadium with a ballpark factor of 98. Oracle Park is more pitcher-friendly and tonight’s game total is down to 7 at some sportsbooks. The Dodgers are coming off a Coors Field series with no rest and they went off for 12 runs last night. Roupp is 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA. He’s allowed 2 ER or less in 3 of 4 starts this year (and he did it in 14 of 22 last year). Yamamoto is 2-1 with a 2.10 ERA this season. He’s allowed 2 ER or less in all 4 of his starts. His ER prop is set at 1.5 and in 4 starts last year against SF Yamamoto held the Giants to 1 ER or less in 3 of them. With both pitchers dealing, there is value on the underdog to keep it close in the F5. The Giants have either been ahead or tied at the end of 5 in 3 of Roupp’s 4 starts. The Giants are just 10-12 on the F5 RL and they only covered in 5 of 13 games against LA last year. But, interestingly, SF covered in the first game of every series against the Dodgers last year.
