Max Fried starts for the Yankees today. He is the most dominant pitcher in baseball right now. Fried is 6-0 with a 1.29 ERA. He doesn't allow many baserunners as evidenced by his 0.93 WHIP. He's pitched well on the road this season - 25.1 IP and just 2 ER. You name the stat or metric and Fried is among the leaders, if not the best in MLB.
It's difficult to pitch at Coors Field, even for elite pitchers. Fried, however, spent several years in the National League with the Atlanta Braves. He has started five games and has six appearances against the Rockies. Four came at Coors Field. While Fried's record against Colorado is just 1-2, he does have a very respectable 3.66 ERA.
On the other side, I think the Yankees will have a field day with Kyle Freeland. He has no wins this season - 0-6 with a sky high 5.68 ERA. Freeland has started two games against the Yankees. Those didn't go so well either. He is 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA in his career against New York.
I think we see a pretty emphatic, bounce-back win from the Yankees today after the Rockies were that blind squirrel that found a nut last night.
