Jameson Taillon takes on Jose Quintana today. Quintana has been absolute money for the Brewers so far this season. He's made four starts. Milwaukee has won all four games. Quintana has pitched at least 5 innings in all four starts and he has allowed 1 earned run or fewer in each.
The problem for Quintana is one that he has had in year's past. His xERA is 4.42 right now and that suggests some regression. He doesn't miss a lot of bats. His strikeout rate is just 16.1 percent. Cubs hitters actually have some pretty good numbers against Quintana - low K rate, high xSLG percentage, and a decent walk rate. This is going to be a tough spot for Quintana.
On the other side is Taillon who is 1-1 with a 4.01 ERA. Taillon has pitched better as of late. In each of his last three starts, he pitched at least 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs or less. The problem is that the Cubs lost all three games.
So, there's one thing I can trust here and that is the Cubs bats. Chicago is No. 1 in the majors in scoring, averaging 6.0 runs per game. On the road, they are even better, averaging 6.5 runs per game. They put up 10 last night against the Brewers and tonight you can get their team total at 3.5 at a pretty good price. Chicago has gone Over 3.5 in 7 of their last 10 games and in 67 percent (22-of-33) of all games this season.
