Since the beginning of May, Valdez is 9-0 and the Astros have won his last 11 starts in a row. Even when he's not on his game, he still wins. Valdez gave up 4 earned runs in his last start against the Dodgers, but Houston still won the game.
deGrom rarely gives up more than 2 earned runs, but he did give up 3 in his last start against the Angels. It was the first time since early April that deGrom allowed more than 2 earned runs in one of his starts.
Texas is still one of the worst offenses in baseball, so you know they will struggle against Valdez. The Rangers did face him once earlier this season. Valdez pitched 7 innings and allowed 3 ER. The Astros faced deGrom this season. The Rangers ace pitched 8 innings of shutout baseball in a 1-0 Texas win.
