The Miami Marlins continue to dazzle everyone with their performance as a road underdog. The Marlins won the first two games of this series with Milwaukee and won as the underdog in both games. They beat Freddy Peralta in Game 1 and Jose Quintana yesterday in Game 2.
Milwaukee has been swept in a series just once this season. It was in their opening series of the 2025 campaign. They lost three straight in Yankee Stadium to New York. Today, Brandon Woodruff will start for the Brewers and that's the big reason why I don't see a Marlins sweep here.
Woodruff is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA in his three starts this season. He missed 2024 and the start of this season as he was rehabbing a shoulder injury. The Brewers gave him plenty of opportunities in his rehab starts and he performed very well. That's why he is absolutely crushing the opposition so far in 2025.
Woodruff has a strikeout rate of 39 percent and he has yet to walk a batter. Milwaukee has won all three of the games he started. On the other side, the Brewers will face Miami's Eury Perez.
Perez had a rough start to his rookie season, but has pitched well lately. His ERA is down to 3.23 and he's allowed 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 4 starts. Milwaukee is still 12-3 in its last 15 games. They still rank sixth in MLB in scoring, averaging nearly 5 runs per game and with Woodruff on the mound today they get the win.
