What an absolute joke last night. A pitcher with a 6.70 ERA takes a perfect game into the eighth inning and the Orioles beat Framber Valdez and the Orioles. Oh, well. But, it does set up tonight's bounce-back situation for Houston.
Rico Garcia will start as an opener for the O's. Then, Houston gets the Orioles bullpen, which is one of the worst in MLB. Baltimore's bullpen ranks fourth-worst in MLB in ERA.
On the other end, it's Jason Alexander (not that one Seinfeld fans) who has really pitched well as of late. Alexander has back-to-back 6-inning, 0-earned run performances. Houston has won each of his last 3 starts and 4 of his last 5.
Cade Povich was slated to start against the Astros, but Houston hits LHP very well. Baltimore opted for Garcia, a righty, to start. He doesn't have a start this year, but he has a 3.71 ERA out of the bullpen.
Baltimore is 3-6 in its last 9 games against Houston. The Orioles are just 1-4 in the five games against the Astros in Houston.
