Bailey Ober starts for the Twins tonight. His 2025 season started great. The Twins won 8 of his first 10 starts this season. Then, it all went to shit. Minnesota lost seven straight Ober starts and then the big right-hander went on the IL for a month.
Since his return, it's been more of the same. Four starts, a 4.09 ERA and four Twins losses. All told, since May 20, Ober is 0-6 with a 6.19 ERA in 11 starts. Minnesota has lost all 11. There is a glimmer of hope in the fact that Ober has some decent numbers against Toronto. However, the last time he faced them he did give up 2 home runs and 5 earned runs.
Chris Bassitt starts for Toronto and his numbers against Minnesota aren't great, but it is a small sample size. Plus, Bassitt is pitching at home at the Rogers Centre where he has been his best this season. He is 8-0 with a 2.73 ERA in 14 home starts this season. Toronto is 12-2 in those 14 starts.
They have the better lineup and better bullpen. The Twins have lost 6 of their last 7 games, including yesterday's loss to the Blue Jays with their ace, Joe Ryan, on the mound.
