I like Atlanta pitcher Hurston Waldrep. He's pitched very well since entering the Braves rotation. He has started five games and the Braves have won them all. Waldrep is 4-0 and he's allowed a total of just 3 earned runs. That's an ERA of 0.90.
The issue is that Waldrep has not faced a lineup like the Phillies. He pitched against the Reds, Marlins twice, White Sox, and Guardians. Cincy and Cleveland both have struggled against RHP in August and Miami and Chicago are both weaker offenses.
Philadelphia is a very good home team. The Phillies are 45-22 at Citizens Bank Park and they have the second-best OPS at home in the majors - .811. Philly will be the first team to get to Waldrep this season.
On the other side, Jesus Luzardo did give up 4 ER in his last start, but he's still 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA in August. He's also been a bit unlucky as evidenced by his 3.08 FIP. Luzardo is 12-6 on the season with a 4.23 ERA, but his xERA is 3.55. He's got a 27.8 percent strikeout rate and he limits hard contact. He should be fine against an Atlanta lineup that has managed 7 runs in this series. It's tough to sweep a four-game series, but the Phillies do so tonight.
