ORLANDO @ MILWAUKEE (MIL -7.5, 213.5)
BUCKS (1H) -2.5
This is one of two NBA Cup quarterfinals tonight. The Magic will be without Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. Orlando played without the pair on Sunday and beat Phoenix. The Bucks are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games and 7-1 SU in their last 8 at home. However, Milwaukee is just 3-3 ATS at home when the spread is 7.5 or higher.
Orlando plays at the second-slowest pace in the league, so this should be a lower-scoring game tonight. For that reason, I can't get behind Milwaukee covering the game spread. I can get behind the Bucks early though. Milwaukee has covered the first half spread in 7 of their last 10 games. With this spread less than 3, I like the Bucks in the first half.
MIAMI @ TENNESSEE (TEN -16, 144.5)
TENNESSEE -16
This is one of the games from tonight's Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. Tennessee is now 8-0 and is the new No. 1 team in the nation. They have won all 8 of their games by double digits. That includes wins over Louisville, Virginia, Baylor, and Syracuse. The Vols average scoring margin is a ridiculous 26.8 points per game. That leads the country.
Miami is in complete disaster mode. The Hurricanes have lost six in a row and they have covered just 2 of their 9 games this season. Miami's defense is the worst in the nation among all high major teams. The 'Canes rank 260th in Defensive Efficiency. Miami doesn't shoot well either and that's going to be a problem against Tennessee's defense. The Vols are No. 2 in the nation holding teams to just 56.6 points per game. The Vols are also 9th in Offensive Efficiency.
PENN STATE @ RUTGERS (RUT -1.5, 157.5)
RUTGERS -1.5
Penn State had that huge win over Purdue last week that Coach Rick called. Now, the Nittany Lions will travel for their first true road game of the season. Major conference teams in their first true road game of the season have really struggled this year. Just ask Rutgers.
The Scarlet Knights were 4-0 before they went to Kennesaw State. KSU pulled the upset 79-77. Then, Rutgers went to Columbus on Saturday to take on Ohio State in their first Big Ten road game. The Scarlet Knights got smoked 80-66. However, Rutgers is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home. Penn State is 2-8 SU in its last 10 on the road. Playing on the road in the Big Ten is no joke.
