MINNESOTA @ LA RAMS (MIN -3, 48)
RAMS +3
The big news here is that Cooper Kupp will play for the Rams tonight. He instantly makes the Rams offense better. The Rams' running game should also have success. Vikings LB Blake Cashman is out tonight. With Cashman in the lineup, Minnesota allows 4.0 yards per carry. Without him, that number goes up to 5.8. Rams RB Kyren Williams should have a successful night.
This is a tough spot for the Vikings. They are coming off an emotional loss to Detroit. Plus, it's a short week. It's worth noting that after playing Detroit, teams are 0-4 ATS this season. It's also worth noting that Rams head coach Sean McVay is a master of navigating his team on short rest. In his career, McVay is 13-6 ATS on short rest. He's 9-1 ATS in his last 10 games and 4-0 ATS in his last four. With Matthew Stafford as his quarterback on short rest, McVay and the Rams are 5-1 ATS. I like Kupp to give the Rams a boost tonight.
SYRACUSE @ PITTSBURGH (PIT -5.5, 61.5)
OVER 61.5
If you like watching teams that pass the ball a lot, you need to watch this game tonight. No team in the FBS throws the ball more than Syracuse. Their quarterback Kyle McCord leads the nation in passing and Pitt's pass defense ranks 95th in the nation. The Panthers, on the other side, are a top 10-scoring offense averaging 45.6 points per game.
Last offseason, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi hired a new offensive coordinator that has revamped the offense. The Panthers play a lot faster than last year and it shows. Syracuse actually plays even faster than Pitt. The Orange rank 7th in the nation in plays per game.
Pitt's defense isn't as strong as it has been in the past, especially against the pass. In addtion to being 95th in the country, the Panthers pass defense ranks 14th in the ACC. I think both of these teams are going to sling the ball all over the yard tonight and push this total Over.
MINNESOTA @ SACRAMENTO (MIN -1.5, 220.5)
TWOLVES TEAM TOTAL OVER 110.5
Minnesota didn't play all that well in their season opener against the Lakers. The Timberwolves ended up losing that game by 7 points. The TWolves shot just 41 percent from the floor and 31.7 percent from three-point range.
In his first game with his new team, Donte DiVincenzo played 32 minutes off the bench, but he scored just 10 points. DiVincenzo averaged 15.5 points a game last season in New York. On Tuesday, he shot just 3-for-11 from the floor. That's far below his 43 percent career shooting average. I don't expect the TWolves will shoot as poorly tonight. Plus, they'll have to keep up with the Kings. That's why I like Minnesota to hit its team total.
