DENVER @ LA CHARGERS (LAC -3, 41.5)
BO NIX OVER 0.5 INTS
JUSTIN HERBERT OVER 0.5 INTS
This one should be a battle. Both teams have a shot at clinching a playoff berth with a win tonight. Both defenses are among the best in the NFL. They are both tied for the top spot in scoring defense, allowing teams just 17.6 points per game. A play on the Under might be something to consider, but what I like is for both defenses to come up big and pick off the opposing starting quarterback.
Denver's Bo Nix is reverting to his former self, Bo Picks. Nix has thrown 5 INTs in his last two games. Justin Herbert has thrown just two interceptions all season long, but one of them came last week. Herbert has been known to cluster interceptions during a season. He will face a ton of blitz tonight (Denver is 5th in blitz rate) just like he did last week against Tampa Bay. Both Denver and LA are tied for 4th in the NFL in interceptions with 14. Look for both defenses to get at least one each tonight.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN @ SAM HOUSTON STATE (GSU -4.5, 48.5)
HUNTER WATSON 43+ RUSHING YARDS
Sam Houston State head coach KC Keeler left to take the head job at Temple. As a result, a ton of Bearkats entered the transfer portal. That makes this game tough to cap, but one guy that stayed at Sam Houston is QB Hunter Watson. Watson ran for 623 yards and averaged 4.1 yards per carry this season. That's an average of 56.6 yards per game.
Watson was a driving force behind the nation's 26th-ranked rushing offense. Sam Houston will go up against one of the weaker run defenses in the nation. Georgia Southern ranks 103rd against the run, allowing opponents to gain 185.8 rushing yards per game. If Sam Houston is going to have a shot at winning this game. It will be on the ground. Watson has gone Over this number in 2 of his last 3 games and will hit it tonight too.
CHARLOTTE @ WASHINGTON (CHA -3.5, 226.5)
HORNETS OVER 112.5
These two teams are just awful. Charlotte has lost 10 of its last 11 games. Washington has dropped 19 of its last 20. Both teams are brutal to watch on offense. They both rank in the bottom 5 in the NBA in scoring. But, LaMelo Ball is fun to watch. He's scored 32 or more points in 4 of his last 5 games.
Washington's defense is the worst in the NBA. The Wizards give up 123 points a game. The Over has actually cashed in 5 of the Hornets last 6 games and I have them projected to score right around 118 points. With their team total much lower, I'll back Charlotte to go Over it.
