Ravens vs Buccaneers

The Baltimore Ravens will travel to Tampa Bay for the first of two Monday night matchups. The Ravens are 4-2, tied with the Steelers for first place in the AFC North after a promising 30-23 victory over Jayden Daniels and the Commanders in Week Six. The Buccaneers enter this game at 4-2, tied for first in the NFC South with the Falcons, but the Falcons have the head-to-head victory against the Bucs, so as things stand, the Falcons are in pole position. Both teams are coming into Week Seven with loads of momentum, and both have the opportunity to become the outright leaders in their divisions with a win.

In Week Six, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored 27 points in the second half to secure a dominant 51-27 win over their division rivals, the New Orleans Saints. Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay offense finished with 594 total yards, including 277 rushing yards. Their Week Six victory was much needed after a tough overtime loss in Week Five that came with adjustments to their schedule due to Hurricane Milton. In their last two games, the Buccaneers have accumulated 433 rushing yards, and quarterback Baker Mayfield is leading the NFL this season with 15 touchdown passes. Not to mention, their defense has been steadily improving, and has registered 15 sacks over the past three games.

This is the best we’ve seen the Tampa offense look since Tom Brady led them to a Super Bowl in 2021, and it is one of the highest-scoring teams in the league. The Buccaneers rank fourth in yards per rush (5.3) and seventh in yards per pass (7.9). They’ve found a dynamic duo in the run and pass games, with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as their star receivers and Rachaad White and Bucky Irving leading the backfield. Second-year running back Sean Tucker has also burst onto the scene since White was injured. Tucker tallied over 130 yards on the ground and 56 yards receiving in the win against the Saints, meaning we might have a three-headed monster in the Tampa backfield.

The Buccaneers aim to end a five-game losing streak against the Ravens, dating back to 2006, and seek their first win against an AFC opponent this season. It won’t be easy, as the red-hot Baltimore Ravens just clocked their fourth consecutive win against one of the best offenses in the NFL. Baltimore running back Derrick Henry contributed significantly to the Ravens' win over Washington in Week Six with 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Henry currently leads the NFL in rushing yards (704) and rushing touchdowns (8).

The Ravens lead the NFL in yards per game with 453.7 and have the highest third-down conversion rate in the league. They also lead the league in red zone scoring, claiming touchdowns on 75% of their red zone possessions. They will need to improve on defense though, as they have allowed 24.8 points per game so far this season, ranking 24th in the NFL. After Tampa dropped 50 on the Saints last weekend, focusing on stopping Mayfield and the Bucs' offense should be the Ravens' number one priority.
