Seattle vs Arizona

The Seattle Seahawks will travel to Arizona this weekend to take on a Cardinals team they completely stifled just two weeks ago. With first place in the NFC West only separated by a single game between the Seahawks, Cardinals and Rams, this game will have massive implications on the eventual winner of the division.

It was a defensive showdown the first time around, with a Coby Bryant pick six proving to be the deciding factor in a low scoring game. Arizona will be keen to get their ground game going in this one, following a dismal effort against the Seahawks front last time out. Kyler Murray and James Conner combined for a woeful 17 yards on the ground in the Week 12 matchup, something they’ll desperately need to correct if they want to claim the win at home this weekend.

As is often the case, this game will come down to the battle in the trenches. In particular, the Cardinals offensive line needs to do a better job of handling the Seahawks’ defensive line, if they are to have any chance of establishing the run and getting control of the game.

Kyler Murray is nearing Must-Win territory if the Cardinals want any chance at making the playoffs and it will start with him. During the 2-game losing streak the Cardinals are on, Kyler has just 9 rushes total for only 57 yards and no scores. This will need to change if the Cardinals are to get a win over their rivals here, with Kyler and James Conner's rushing ability holding the keys to unlocking the rest of the offense.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was back in the endzone against the Vikings last weekend, catching five passes for 60 yards and a TD. Seattle’s pass defense sits just outside the top ten in average yards per pass allowed, and the matchup between Marv and that secondary will be one to watch, particularly in the redzone.

For the Seahawks, extending their current three game win streak could put them almost out of reach. They lead the division by one game with five left to play, and a win here has the potential to put them two games clear.

After a couple of losses to the Bills and the Rams, MIke MacDonald’s team appear to be rediscovering form right on time. Geno Smith was 20/31 for 201 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Jets, while the defense did a great job adjusting and silencing Aaron Rodgers and co in the second half of last weekend's game.

They do struggle to contain the run at times, but will take immense confidence from their performance against Arizona a couple of weeks back. If they can do that again, they might head towards January football with a firm hold on the division.
